National Instruments PXIe-DMM5100 Digital Multimeter Bundle
The National Instruments PXIe-DMM5100 Bundle (Part Number: 867114-01) is a complete PC-based measurement solution designed for automatic test and validation systems. This whole system consists of a high-performance PXI digital multimeter integrated into a complete 5-slot PXI Express chassis so that it is a compact and high-performance alternative to normal benchtop instruments. The core of the system is the PXI-4065 module, which is a digital multimeter with a 6½-digit resolution that is capable of performing a wide range of measurements such as AC or DC voltage, AC or DC current, 2- or 4-wire resistance, frequency, period, and diode tests. The chassis is a PXIe-1083 chassis, which forms a solid support platform for the whole system and can be connected over a Thunderbolt 3 connection to allow easy communications from a laptop computer using a USB-C port. The chassis is supplied with a number of accessories, including a power cable and a standard probe set with banana plugs.
Engineers utilize this PXI DMM bundle in a variety of applications from benchtop validation to distributed measurement systems. Its strength lies in the ability to combine so many different instruments in one PXI enclosure which makes test station installation simple and keeps clutter down. The PXI-4065 module provides basic DC voltage accuracies of 90 ppm on the ±300 V range and the possibility to obtain sample rates of up to 3 kS/s. The architectural design of the system allows for precise multi-instrument synchronization, by which the timing and trigger signals can be shared around the PXI backplane, which is essential for the performance of complex automover test sequences, such as those that would produce channels required for hand probing tests and switched as well as fully automatic measurements with their high resolution and accuracy.
A major advantage of the PXIe-DMM5100 Bundle is its intrinsic scalability. The chassis has four further PXIe slots, which allows the user to increase the capabilities of the system by incorporating other instruments such as PXI oscilloscopes, source measure units, or multiplexer switches without the necessity for completely new measures. This modularity can be provided for via intuitive software such as InstrumentStudio to allow users to build and modify their test systems, thus satisfying future needs.
